only.

Sit directly facing a window. No lamps, no ring lights, no overhead fluorescents.

Why it matters: Artificial light shifts undertones. This is the #1 reason color analysis gives wrong results.

Use your front-facing camera. Hold your phone at arm's length — your face and full collarbone should both be visible in frame.

Why it matters: Filters alter skin tone data — even subtle ones. The analysis reads exact color values from your collarbone and jaw area.

Front-facing (selfie) is easiest when you're shooting alone. The rear camera works too if someone else is taking the photo — just keep the same rules: no Portrait mode, no beauty filters.

Minimal
makeup.

Go as bare as you're comfortable. Foundation, concealer, and blush mask the undertone signals we read from your skin.

Mascara and eye makeup are fine. The focus is on skin tone around your face, neck, and collarbone.

Also: Pull your hair back before you start. Hair covering the neck and collarbone affects the color reads — even a loose ponytail works.

Can't go bare? That's okay — results will still be useful, just slightly less precise. The most important thing is the lighting and drape colors.

Collarbone

The analysis reads your skin tone at the neck and collarbone. Wear a tank top or bra — straps are fine. Pull hair back so your neck is clear.

Lay or hold the fabric so it touches your neck and chest. Pull hair back so the collarbone stays clear.

Why it matters: The drape color needs to sit right against exposed skin at the collarbone. A high neckline or hair covering the neck blocks the read.

You don't need your whole closet — just a spread across warm and cool. At least one of each, plus neutrals if you have them.
